Brief Background

I started karate training after a year of being a parent on the sidelines watching my son work through the grades. I decided to put that dead time to good use and continued even after my son decided not to continue several years later.

When I’m not teaching at Sesma I run an event management company in Newmarket and work closely with business and community organisations such as Newmarket Business Association and the Newmarket Festival. I am a chartered marketer, an accredited PR practitioner and have a degree in Linguistics.

I have a teenage son, a West Highland Terrier and a Miniature Schnauzer puppy that take up lots of time. In my spare time I play saxophone and piano, am a keen sailor and diver, and I love travelling and adrenalin filled adventures!

What do you enjoy most about martial arts?

Studying martial arts has made a real difference to my life. My confidence has increased, my fitness has improved and I just love the look on people’s faces when they find out that I’m a black belt. It’s priceless. After they find out I usually get my own way!

I particularly like helping students perfect their technique and reach their own personal goals.

Future aspirations

Having gained 1^st Dan in Tae Kwondo in 2007 I am working towards 2^nd Dan in 2009/10. I also train in kickboxing and am aiming for a 1^st Dan black belt in kickboxing in the near future.
