Happy New Year To You All
Hope you all a great Christmas and that you were all good girls and boys so that Santa brought you all a wonderful gift.
I have heard that you are having a little bit of snow at the moment and that it is going to be around for a couple more weeks. Shame i have missed it all, as i like the clean soft look of freshly laid snow, plus i love the look of trees where the snow has landed on the branches.
Out here in Oz the sun was shining, clear blue sky with a gentle breeze and about 38 degrees as i was writing notes for this newsletter by the pool.
I have met a couple of amazing people while i have been out here that have had an impact on me.
The first was David Koutsoukis who specializes in helping children with anger issues and character building.
I spent a day with David exchanging ideas and learning from him. He has re-motivated me to keep trying to get into more schools to help children become better characters, more confident and deal with bullying. I have learnt a lot from David and we have come up with some ideas that could be incorporated into the karate classes.

The other person I met was my cousin Loza. It was the first time I have ever met him and we had a good long chat. After speaking with Loza I felt that I could achieve anything and if I ever need some inspiration, I will think of him. Now you are wondering what we spoke about and why he is such inspirational figure to me. Well, Loza lost the use of his right arm, but that has not stopped him motor bike racing and represent Australia in off road quad bike racing and his next challenge to cross the Australian outback on his KTM off road bike. I will tell you more about him in classes to help get you guys motivated towards your goals.
New 1st Dan Black Belts
Well done to those that passed their black belt just before Christmas.
There was a larger than normal amount of student ready for the grading, which shows that you guys are working very hard in the Leadership classes and in the Black belt preparation classes.
Master Vince 7th Dan and Master Wayne 5th Dan were very pleased with the very high standard from both SESMA and BBA .
The new Black belts will now further their martial art knowledge in the Black Belt club class, were they get to chose from a large list of Chosho grades, be taught how to write lesson plans with objectives & outcomes and have lessons with guest instructors or speakers.
Role of Honours:
1st Dan: Henry Hardwell, Luke Vignuax, Elise Galvin, Joshua Forster, Matthew Parker, Jordan Tanner, Kurt Vinten.
3rd Dan: Andrew Hewerdine
Student of the Year
Well Done to Aaron Watling who was chosen by the senior instructors and myself as the student of the year.
Aaron has shown out standing dedication to SESMA with assisting with teaching, being a team leader with all the multisport days, helping SESMA & ASDA with promoting ASDA’s Sporting Chance and volunteering to help SESMA run the Sumo at every demo, fete and fayre during 2009. I have also had feed back from parents to say how impressed they were Aaron as he has helped their children.
So well done Aaron, you deserve it.
Happy Birthday
