Sensei David S
Sensei David Sayer 2nd Dan Tae-Kwondo
Brief Background
I first started martial arts training in 1981 and gained my 1st Dan in 1986 with Eastern Region Tae Kwondo. I then joined British Jidokwon and achieved my 1st Dan with them under the instruction of Master Bob Banham and graded by UK President Master Ian Wheeler. I continued my training with British Jidokwon and achieved my 2nd Dan in 1992.
While with Jidokwon, I also studied Han Mu Do under Master Banham and attended seminars run by Dr Hee Young Kimm 9th Dan and founder of Han Mu Do.
I have also trained in Shotokan Karate and gained a few grades in this system.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's when i was 39 and over the past 10yrs other aspects of my life have taken priority over my martial arts training. Until my return to training with Master Wayne.
What do i enjoy most about Martial arts?
Over the years I have studied many styles and systems, this has shown me that no matter who you are what your age or capabilities there is a place or system which will suit you and you can train as hard as you are able and achieve, while having fun within the martail arts family. Fitness, fun and the feeling of being part of a team who are all working towards common goals, sometimes leading and sometimes being lead it does not matter.
Future Aspirations
To continue my training/learning under the guidance of Master Wayne with Korean Karate, and at the same time continue to expand my knowledge of other styles and systems so eventually I am not bound by a particular style but free to express what comes narurally in a self-defence situation.
I look forward to pass on my understanding of martail arts, over 30 years of training to other students, but still remain a student as i believe we all are.
You must first empty your cup before you can drink from the fountain of knowledge.
